What exactly is Bildungsurlaub?
The Bildungsurlaub is a pillar of the German education system, through which the state promotes the continuous learning of workers.
Specifically, depending on the federal state and the employment relationship, employees and interns have 5 or 10 days per year to utilize for professional training and development without using their annual leave!
The language course must meet certain requirements to obtain approval for a language study stay, such as Bildungsurlaub. One requirement, which almost all federal states share, is that the language course must not be less than 360 minutes i.e. 6 hours per day.
An exception to this rule is the states of Hamburg and Berlin, which require at least 300 minutes i.e. 5 hours per day.
The ‘Super Intensive Italian’ and ‘Intensive Italian’ language courses meet these requirements exactly.

The Italian Super Intensive Course is recognized in:
- Hesse (through Hamburg recognition)
- Rhineland-Palatinate
- Saarland
- Schleswig-Holstein
- Lower Saxony (course combination on request)
- Saxony-Anhalt

The Bildungsurlaub is usually approved for a period of 5 or 10 days. If you wish to extend your stay by using days off of your own, you are more than welcome to book additional course weeks.
To register for your Bildungsurlaub
- Select the desired period and check the course availability at our institution. Also, provide information on the federal state in which you work.
- Talk to your supervisor and communicate your wish to take advantage of the Bildungsurlaub.
- Once you have obtained preliminary approval, book the course on the desired dates.
- We will send you the following documents:

- Booking confirmation
- Acknowledgement of your federal status
- Certificate of attendance and lesson plan (only required in some federal states)
- Submit all documents to your personnel department.
If your employer rejects your Bildungsurlaub application for valid reasons, you can cancel your course booking free of charge.
Tip: Bildungsurlaub tax deduction. Expenses for a language course are almost always tax deductible under certain conditions. Upon request, we will be happy to provide you with an invoice for the course fees.

Every course includes language level assessment, teaching materials, yoga twice a week at the school, certificate of attendance, general support during your stay, use of Wi-Fi, loan of DVDs and books.
Not included: accommodation, additional learning tours, and activities during the week and weekends.
